"love God, embrace beauty, and live life to the fullest"

this is one post i never imagined writing. sometimes life makes absolutely no sense. as most of you know by now, the pastor at my church, kyle lake, died during a freak accident at church this morning. somehow he was electrocuted while preparing to baptize a member. kyle went into cardiac arrest and passed away later this morning.

how does something like this happen to such a great person? ubc is unique, and kyle had a lot to do with that. it's been cool over the years watching kyle develop as a preacher. he's had a huge impact on my christian beliefs. i can honestly say i'm a better christian because of his teachings. i know my friends would agree regarding their lives as well. kyle was one of those preachers that made you realize how much God does love you and how important that relationship with him is. when i lived in conroe, one of my favorite things about coming to waco on weekends was attending service at ubc. when i moved back to waco, i tried several other churches, but i always returned to ubc. kyle had a big part to do with that. being at this church now for almost 5 years, there were moments when i'd get a tired of hearing a story that he told in a sermon the previous year. now, i'd give anything to hear some of those great stories again.

when you read this, please pray for kyle's wife, jenn, and his 3 children. i can only hope that i have as much love for my wife and children as kyle had for his. also pray for the congregation as we deal with this tragey. ubc is going to be fine, it just may take awhile. thanks for the prayers and all your phone calls today. love you guys
